Agate Creek south of Forsayth in north Queensland is world renowned for agates of superb colours and patterns. This large area is well known for its Thundereggs, Agates and quartz crystals.Thundereggs are rough spheres, most about the size of a baseball; though they can range from less than an inch to over a meter across. They usually look like ordinary rocks on the outside, but slicing them in half and polishing them may reveal intricate patterns and colours. The fossicking area is about 70km south of Forsayth by a gravel road, which is suitable for conventional vehicles, but may be impassable in the wet season.
